Awesome Projects in Progress
Awesome Fest is now underway and in progress.
Below is an account of which projects got picked up and are being worked on by whom, as well as a log of
what's happening with each.
Asylum Short Film
This team will be organizing and putting on an event at the Columbia Tower Club to have a trailer viewing and discussion group with the film's creators.
The game is to have it attended by 100 people, and from those attendees raise part or all of the $16K needed to bring the film to fruition.
Guerilla Style Homeless Food Drive
This team will be gathering up a group of participants to make and deliver lunches directly to the homeless in Seattle.
The scale of this is yet to be determined but the game is to be as big as can be managed.
Burien Press Urban Garden
This team will design and build an event space with an edible garden using donated recycled materials from Recology.
The game is to get the materials, source plants from the neighboring community, and have a day or two when building out is done prior to the 26th.
Defining Civil Discourse
This team will be filming around a dozen interviews covering a wide cross section of people, asking what civil discourse means to them. The resulting footage will be cut and edited into a 4-6 minute video to serve as a intro to the work of Recipe For Peace Now.
Urban Rooftop Aquaponic Garden
This team will be making headway on getting a new rooftop hydroponic garden prototype installed and working for the sake of testing and refining the design.
The game is to solicit input from a structural engineer to work out requirements and constraints for any weight issues.
If feasible, find a rooftop to actually install the rooftop. If now, find a different space to do the pilot test.
Limbs for Sierra Leone
This team is out to collect 100 prosthetics by the 26th, and will do so by contacting the largest orthopedic clinics and individual physicians in search of prosthetic donations.
Building Businesses and Changing Lives
This team is out to head-on raise part or even all of the $60K it will take to create Ventures new programming.
Over the three weeks they'll be hosting a fundraising event and as well finding coaches that will donate money they receive from consulting to the organization.
Tiny House Village
The game during these 3 weeks is to build a media campaign to increase community awareness of the Nickelsville Tiny House Village project, as a precursor to more involvement, volunteerism and donations around the project.
